Intro
“Creating educational video games using AI” is a practical course designed to help you bring learning to life through simple, familiar gaming experiences.
Using user-friendly AI tools and everyday language, you will learn how to turn your ideas into custom educational games inspired by classic arcade and console favorites – from maze games to paddle tennis and side-scrolling platformers.
No technical background required! Step into the role of a creator, inspire your students, and discover how easy and fun digital game design can be!
Who is this for?
This course is tailored for youth workers, cultural activity creators, and educators of all levels and subjects – including primary, secondary, and higher education teachers, school leaders, etc. – who want to bring simple digital games into their teaching.
No prior coding or technical experience is required – just curiosity and a willingness to try something new.
Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand AI in education: Learn how simple AI tools work and how they can be used to make learning interactive and fun.
- Plan custom classroom games: Design structured game concepts using simple planning templates before generating them.
- Guide AI tools with clear prompts: Master plain-language instructions to easily communicate your game rules and ideas to AI.
- Build working mini-games: Create custom educational games (such as maze quizzes or games where players jump, run, and navigate obstacles across levels) aligned with your subject and lessons.

Modules and Course Schedule
- Module 1: Introduction to AI & game design. Discover how simple AI tools can help build classroom games, explore classic game mechanics, and see how games enhance student learning.
- Module 2: Talking to AI & creative planning. Learn how to use everyday language to give clear instructions to AI tools, using AI as a partner to outline rules, characters, and learning activities.
- Module 3: Adapting classic game styles. Explore popular game formats – like block puzzles, maze games, paddle tennis, and side-scrolling platformers – and customize them for science, history, languages, or math.
- Module 4: Hands-on game creation workshop. Put your ideas into practice by generating working classroom games with AI. Playtest your creations, tweak them with simple feedback, and build your confidence.
- Module 5: Classroom arcade & institution integration. Showcase and playtest your games in a fun classroom arcade session. Share practical strategies for running gaming activities in your school and fostering a creative learning culture.
